6 pounds, Kankles and Radishes

I know I know...I'm being a total slacker when it comes to blogging. Actually I'm being a total slacker when it comes to a lot of things right now...just ask my slave, I mean husband. :) There has been a lot of baby news since I last posted. Curt and I went to the doctor on the 19th for a sonogram. We were specifically asked to have one because my belly is measuring bigger than normal (always great for the ego to hear that...). The sonogram definitely confirmed that. She is already measuring in at 6 pounds. I was 34 weeks at the time and baby's are normally about 4.7 - 5 lbs by then. So she is measuring about two weeks a head of schedule. The not so great news we found out is that the baby is breech. She sits with her head in my right rib. No wonder I'm so uncomfortable, right? I have a huge baby taking up the upper part of my uterus with all the big parts of her body. The doctor told us that unless she turns we would either have to try and manually turn her (doesn't that sound unpleasant?) or have a c-section. He won't deliver breech babies...which is okay with me. I don't want to push out a breech baby. Interestingly enough though, he was telling us that they have scientifically proven that babies delivered breech are not as smart as babies delivered head first. Overall though the appointment went well. I am going in every week now though because although my blood pressure is perfectly normal, whenever the baby pushes on me really hard or gets really high I can feel it go up. I will start to see spots, get a headache and can't breathe. So as a precaution, I'm going in frequently to check everything out. Plus, I'm so swollen...from head to toe. Well, especially the toes, feet, ankles and calves. In fact, I shouldn't even say any of those parts since none of them exsist anymore...they are now kankles. It is miserable. How come no one ever tells you how painful swelling is? I can't really walk because the bottom of my feet are so swollen, I can't really sit because it makes them swell more, I can't really lay down because then my face swells...it's painful and miserable.

On another note, I have my first real continuous craving. I can't get enough of radishes. Who ever knew you could crave something like radishes... We went to WalMart the other day and bought three whole bundles...almost buying them out. My coworkers make fun of me because I bring a tupperware full of radishes to work to eat throughout the day. They are so good though!
