Ella and Emery: 4 Months

My babies turn four months old today. (Insert panic face here...) They are both starting to be awake more. (Insert another panic face here...) Emery is doing so much better than she was a month ago. (Insert relieved face here...) They are both changing and becoming happier and slightly more independent. (Insert smile here...) Here are some other things about them:

Ella:
  • She still generally sleeps through the night. If she doesn't, it's because Emery has woken her up or she's wet her diaper so much is has started to leak.
  • She's still much more mellow than Emery or Isabelle. So much so, she still hasn't laughed.
  • She's got some major stranger danger. She's pretty okay with family, but really she just wants her parent's. There are a few exceptions to this when she's in a good mood.
  • She's gotten so big in the past month. I'm excited to take her to the doctor in 2.5 weeks to see how much she's grown. She totally looks like she's four months.
  • She's decently good about sitting on her own.
  • She's gone back to liking the fan again.
  • She knows how to put herself to sleep. We've been letting her cry herself to sleep and sometimes she doesn't really even cry anymore. Others...well, she's cried as long as 20 minutes.
  • She talks to us a lot more than Emery.
  • Doesn't really like to stand, but does like to sit more than Emery.
  • Loves her tongue.
  • Chews on her right thumb and does suck it some. We'll often here her sucking her hand/fingers when we are in the car. She does it a lot, but mostly when she's hungry.
  • She's gotten really good at pushing herself up when she's on her stomach.
  • She's rolled over from her stomach to her back a couple of times. We've never seen her do this.
  • She wakes up happy. If she rolls herself over on to her back, she'll stay in her crib and talk in the mornings.
  • I don't even remember the last time Ella spit up, but she drools a lot now.
  • She loves watching Emery.
  • She hates getting out of the bath or shower, but she doesn't really love taking them as much as Emery or Isabelle either.
Emery:
  • She started laughing a few days after she turned three months.
  • She's ticklish and when she's happy and ticklish is when she laughs.
  • She's even laughed a few times at certain words we've said. "Wow" is one I can think of.
  • She's officially allergic to milk. I still think she has air-borne allergies too.
  • She's kind of okay with sitting on her own too.
  • She loves the T.V. Tangled is her favorite movie along with Isabelle. Maybe that's just because Isabelle loves it and therefore watches it all the time.
  • She loves showers.
  • She's very strong and stands assisted very well.
  • She has no patience when she's hungry.
  • She can almost roll over from her back to her stomach.
  • She can push her way up and over the back of the swing or bouncer and lift her body up by pushing with her legs and then letting go and therefore sliding out of the swing or bouncer. Very infuriating and she has to be strapped in because of this.
  • She still spits up a ton.
  • She drools a ton...between that and spitting up, she's always soaked down the front of her.
  • She's very good at not crying much, if at all, when we put her down to go to sleep.
  • She loves when we say "Chugga chugga chugga choo choo." Seriously, it never fails to bring a smile to her face.
  • She loves books.
  • She loves watching Isabelle.

Emery and Ella's Blessing Day

On March 27th, Curt blessed Emery and Ella. Our day started out crazy... I woke up and remembered I had forgotten to make their bows so I did that while Curt got everyone ready. Once we got everything done, we headed down the stairs to take pictures. Curt went down first with Ella, then Isabelle and I followed with Emery. About the first or second stair in an eight stair set, Isabelle fell forward and flipped and fell and toppled all the way down. It was very terrifying to watch as her head and neck bent in horrible ways since she didn't roll down, but flipped head over heels down. You can see the red underneath her eye on the following picture:
After that incident we were a lot more behind than I wanted to be going into taking pictures. So...we didn't get any family ones and the one's we do have are okay...I just wanted amazing pictures, but at least we have some.

In Emery's blessing she was blessed:

  • to be healthy and strong
  • to be a strength to her sisters
  • to have an understanding of the gospel and her purpose on earth
  • to have a love for the scriptures and the Savior
  • to follow counsel throughout her life from her parents, the Spirit and Priesthood leaders
  • to seek the blessings of the temple and to make and keep sacred covenants there
  • to know and feel the love of the Savior as He loves you more that you can understand

In Ella's blessing she was blessed:

  • to enjoy health and strength and vigor throughout her years on earth
  • to follow the counsel of the Spirit
  • to have a great love for all those around her and to be able to convey the love of the Savior to those in need
  • to search the scriptures and they will be of a great help to her
  • to go to the temple and be sealed to an eternal companion
  • to be fruitful and raise children unto the Lord
  • to have a strong relationship with the Savior throughout her life

Day No. 7: Easter

Easter morning came and Isabelle woke up to a surprise:

Our three girls in their Easter dresses:
Isabelle wouldn't be a part of our family picture...
For our last Easter project we colored Easter eggs. It was a mess...but Isabelle liked it. Her favorite part was putting stickers on them after they were colored.

Day No. 6 of Easter

On day number six we did an Easter egg hunt with some families from our ward. We did it at a park...which totally distracted Isabelle from realizing there were eggs scattered on the ground. Once she finally saw them she got really excited. We had to explain to her that she needed to put them in her basket, but other than that, she was a natural.
All the while, Ella discovered her car seat toy and how to play with it...

Day No. 5 of Easter

For day number five's activity, Curt and I made Rice Krispie treats in the shape of eggs. Isabelle didn't help cause she was too busy playing with her cousin. She did like to eat them though...

Day No. 4 of Easter

For our fourth day of our week-long Easter celebration we made an egg out of marshmallows. We kind of had to improvise and tear the marshmallows in half and use their own gooey-ness to get them to stick to the page because tape wasn't working and I still don't have any glue. It worked though and Isabelle loved it. We don't really know why she loved it so much, but she did. She thought the whole thing was so fun and hysterical that she had a hard time even helping she was laughing so much. It was really funny to watch. We love when she's in that good of a mood and sadly, it isn't very often that she is. She's really done very well with our projects and has loved doing them.
Our finished project

Day No. 3 of Easter

The idea for our third day's activity came from pinterest too... We made a sheep out of Isabelle's hand print and cotton balls. We were surprised when she literally freaked out about having paint on her hand. We were definitely not expecting that. I was really glad that I had more than one piece of paper ready or we wouldn't have gotten her hand print. We did however and once the black paint was off she was good to go. She really enjoyed putting cotton balls on her hand print. We don't have any glue in our house so we had to resort to tape. It still worked though. Isabelle was surprisingly good at putting the cotton balls in the right place. Overall...she enjoyed it and it was super easy.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day...

Although I use cloth diapers to save money and I hang them to dry for the same reason (and they smell better this way) putting less diapers into a landfill does make me happy.

If you've been thinking about buying some, here's a coupon for you... Just take my recommendation and don't get the Velcro kind...
