Ruger at 5 Months

In just one short month, Ruger is going to be half a year old!? He is growing like a weed and still is as good as gold, as his grandma describes him. He seriously is soooo amazingly good. I would have ten more like him...well if I didn't have to be pregnant to get those ten. :) Here are some things about him this month:

1. He can roll over both ways. He's really good at it and loves to be put on the floor to roll around. He doesn't do it more than once or twice though so he's definitely not using it as a way of transportation yet.
2. He doesn't like peaches at all and bananas are the only fruit he seems to like. He loves all the veggies he's been given. He loves baby food and loves to eat!
3. He is a mover! He never just sits in your lap now. He's constantly kicking and punching and squirming all over. 
4. He loves the Johnny Jump Up
5. He's getting tired of the Bumbo and tries to get out of it by arching his back.
6. He LOVES showers. He would probably love bathes too, but we just put him in the Bumbo and give him a shower. I don't think he has ever once complained for a second when he's in the shower.
7. He likes to eat a lot at night. He seriously nurses probably 3-6 times a night for the past three weeks. 
8. He is starting to toss and turn and move in his sleep.
9. He tried apple juice for the first time yesterday and enjoyed it. He didn't quite figure out how to work the bottle, but he tried and never got frustrated.
10. He loves attention. When you talk to him, you are almost guaranteed a smile and for him to talk back to you.
11. He doesn't like getting in the car seat. He also doesn't like to be in the car when he's tired and wants to go to sleep. 

Memorial Day

 Our Memorial Day this year was quite a busy day. It landed on the first day of the week that Curt took off in between jobs. One of the things on my to do list before moving was to go visit Cur't grandparents. Curt stayed with them while we were selling our house before the girls and I moved down to Houston, but we had only seen them once or twice during the whole time we lived there. So, on Memorial Day, we spent the first half of the day out at their house. They live in the same subdivision as Curt's uncle's family. Every time we've gone to see his grandparents, we've ended up at Curt's Uncle Doug's house. They have little kids with similar ages to our kids and even a baby just 3.5 weeks older than Ruger. They also have a pool and generally spend holidays together, so that is where we spent the majority of our time. The girls were so excited to get in their pool. It was the first swim of the summer and they had a blast. They are terrified of any water that they can't reach the bottom of the pool and they do not trust floaties or even adults for the most part. It's a little frustrating, but it was still fun. Emery, strangely enough, is my bravest in the water.

After having an amazing brisket lunch, we headed out to my friend's house. We had dinner with them and enjoyed having our families get together for one of the last times.

It was definitely a filled day, but so fun and perfect for some of our last days in Houston.

One Last (Houston) Temple Trip

Before leaving Houston, I had a list of a few things I wanted to do one last time. It wasn't a very long list because I was trying to be realistic. One of the things was taking the kids to the Houston Temple. We only lived about 20 minutes from it, and it was actually only about 10 minutes from our church building, so we went quite a few times while we were there. The girls love going there and walking around. They all love to find Moroni and Emery, especially, loved to find him and talk about him up there on top of the temple. One of my favorite Emery + Temple moments is when we went and Emery found Moroni and asked if she could go up and hug him. 

Anyways, we were extremely busy during the time from when Curt interviewed for his new job and moving, so we had to juggle to fit everything in. Unfortunately, we went to the temple at high noon on a sunny and humid day. I was a little bummed about that because of the squinty eyes and shadowy pictures, but oh well. We still made it and that was the important thing. 

Flooded Park

I mentioned in my other park blog that the majority of the time our community park was flooded. These pictures are an example of that. At its worst, the park would be 100 percent flooded, up to the 6-8 inch barrier surrounding the park. This is probably a few days after the rain. The girls really wanted to go, so we went over in their rain boots. The water was still really high and they had to be careful not to slash water in. At some parts it was still too deep, but they had fun for the 20 or so minutes we all lasted.
