Birthday Presents

On Isabelle's birthday, we started off the day with opening one present. We managed to wait a whole week and a day after Frozen came out to give it to Isabelle for her birthday. I was pretty surprised that when she opened it, she didn't seem all that excited, but she inherited that non-excitement trait from me...
Right before Daddy got home for the day the girls had a surprise visitor. Grandma came to join in the fun and bring presents. Grandpa sent puzzles for all the girls. Someone from Curt's side of the family gave her My Little Pony stuff, a Merida play watch and Grandma gave her a real blue violin.
I somehow managed to get enough put together to make a cake too. Honestly, I don't even remember half of this day. Isabelle's birthday has a real habit of coming at a really bad time. (Last year I had a miscarriage two days before and this year I had a baby the day after. Two years ago, we moved three days after her b-day.)
Isabelle really wanted a birthday party this year. For two months she had been asking to have a bounce house and invite her Joy School friends, but the timing of it all just didn't work out. Hopefully next year it will all work out...

Isabelle at Five

It seriously amazes me to look at Isabelle and see a five year old. She is so proud...and I have to admit, as much as I can't believe that I've been a mom for five years, I am extremely proud too.

  1. She loves her hair long and whenever anyone comments on it, she tells them it's getting long like 'Punzel.
  2. She's really really good at helping. While I was super sick with almost the first half of my pregnancy, she took really good care of me and her sisters. She now loves to help with Ruger too.
  3. She is still really good at playing with her toys and using her imagination.
  4. She can write her full name in capital letters.
  5. She can buckle herself in in the car.
  6. She loves to ride her bike and she does very well with it too.
  7. She's a very good artist. We love her drawings. She loves to draw people, especially her family and specifically Ruger, snowmen and rainbows. Mostly she draws her family though.
  8. She loves Joy School. While participating in a talent show at Joy School she ran super fast and she sang "He Sent His Son" all the way through and by herself. We were very impressed.
  9. She loves to wear her hair curly, but she doesn't call it curly, she calls it "wrinkly." When her bangs are curled, she says she looks like Aurora.
  10. She loves to learn new songs and she helps teach her sisters the correct words. She also likes to make up words to songs.
  11. Often times she comes to the dinner table and states that she doesn't like whatever it is that I've cooked...even if she loves the meal. It is not unusual for her to sit and complain about the food for a good 15 minutes before she'll taste it. Once she does, she remembers she loves it and will eat her whole plate. Also, 90% of the time, she will not ask for seconds. Once she eats what's on her plate, she's done.
  12. She is 3 ft. 5.73 inches tall and weighs 38 lbs 9.6 oz.
  13. She loves to set the table, but hates to clean. She will clean, but only under threat of losing all her toys to the vacuum and a bribe and begging and some more threatening by actually turning on the vacuum. Grrrr...
  14. She rarely drinks anything but water. Really the only thing she would prefer other than water is Sprite (white soda) or Dr. Pepper (black drink), but really just Sprite. If you pour her some sort of juice or milk or even chocolate milk, most of the time she'll take a sip and just leave it and will never drink it.
  15. She's wearing 5T shirts, 4T shorts and size 11 shoes.
