Home at last

Natalie and Isabelle were both released from the hospital today. Natalie is recovering well and Isabelle is as healthy as can be. She didn't really like the car seat, but once we got moving she calmed down and went to sleep. It was a pretty exciting weekend. Isabelle got to see all of her aunts and uncles and meet her cousin Abby! She passed a hearing exam with flying colors so we know our baby isn't deaf. We also discovered that she has a healthy pair of lungs... :)

For Friends and Family

I am posting on behalf of Natalie and Curt, because I know everyone has been impatiently waiting to see more pictures of this beautiful baby girl. These are pics my mom took this afternoon. I got to see her last night and she is perfect, and anyone who knows me knows that it must be true because I am not one to say that just because she is my niece. I know that our family appreciates all the love and support, especially Natalie and Curt. So a big THANK YOU!

It's a Girl!

So, I have to fill in for Natalie today because she is out of commission for the time being. We went to the hospital yesterday at 7:00 a.m. and she was already having contractions. They hooked her up and broke her water and then we sat there all day waiting for some progress. Natalie did great, but she eventually broke down and asked for an epidural... After that it was a long wait 'til the evening when she had made significant progress. She had only dilated 1.5 cm when we arrived in the morning. By 4:00 p.m. she was up to 6 cm. Alas, it was not meant to be. She started closing up again and the baby never engaged, so they took her to the operating room to perform a c-section. It was rather traumatic for her but she came through it well. Isabelle was born around 7:30 p.m. and she was 8.4 lbs and 20.5 inches long. She looked pretty yucky initially but when they got her all cleaned up she looked so pretty and peaceful. She is the cutest little girl! Just to prove it, I took a few pictures of her.

Sneak Peek

For Christmas, my coworkers pooled some money and gave me $100 for a 3D sonogram. So, at the end of February Curt and I went up to Denton to cheat and look at our baby. In general, 3D sonograms kind of creep me out, but since I had been given specific money for a specific item, we went ahead and did it. It was actually less creepy when it is your own baby, but it is still kind of weird. We were there for about 40 minutes because she wouldn't show her face for the first 15 minutes or so...and then after about 5 minutes of seeing her face, it all started to look the same. Does that make me a bad mother already, that I got bored looking at my baby? Oh well...enjoy the images that my mother is convinced make us cheaters...
