Today marks the day my girls are 6 months old.

P.S. It is also my dad's birthday. Happy Birthday Dad!

A Wee Bit Claustrophobic

Yes, we've been in our current apartment for 2.5 months...and yes we are just getting the finishing touches done. We just put the second crib in the room last week. When I say it barely fits, I'm not exaggerating. Realistically, it doesn't quite fit. The brown crib has to sit at an angle and isn't up against the wall...but we are super relieved it works out...
As for the vinyl...it's been planned for a year now, but we haven't been in an even semi-permanent place for a long time. Of course when Curt wrote the saying it was a little different as we only had one princess. (Ahh the simple days...) We are super happy to have it up and see it in our girls' room.

Right Now

While doing the usual assembly line for changing diapers, Isabelle started punching me in the back because I wasn't getting her what she wanted right then. I told her no and a tantrum ensued...as usual. By the time I changed the diapers and cleaned them off, she had fallen asleep mid cry.
Some other things to notice about this picture:
  • There are no bottoms on any of my children. Yeah, this seems to be the norm nowadays...
  • We have a lot of diapers in this house...
  • Isabelle's almost always wearing her purple "Sadie shoes." They are named after her friend who also has flip flops. Honestly, if you said the words flip flops to Isabelle, she probably wouldn't even associate her shoes with that name.

Greg's Wedding

Last weekend my uncle Greg and my now Aunt Marti FINALLY got married (they've been together longer than I've even known Curt...)! Yay for them and congrats!! We had lots of family in town and it was so much fun, and really stressful at the same time. (I have two babies and a two-year old, I'm always stressed...)
While everyone else was eating, Isabelle thought the dance floor was her own personal stage. She danced, and well, kept us entertained at least...
She danced with Levi (I have no clue what he's eating...sorry):
 ...and loved on Levi...
Who could blamer her though...he is mighty cute:
Speaking of mighty cute...so is she:
 My girls love they daddy!
Since we are trying to take more family pictures per my 27 at 27 list, we used the opportunity of us being all dressed up (since I get this made over about once a year...) to take a picture. Of course with our family, there is no such thing as a perfect family picture. At least this time around, no one was throwing a tantrum.
And since Heather doesn't blog, I'll add her family pictures up too:
Congrats Greg and Marti! (Even though I don't think you read my blog...) It was fun!

Night with the Amons

Last Wednesday Heather and Andrew invited the whole family (including my mom's parents who were here for ten days!) to their house for dinner. It was really nice and the girls had a great time. We had a picnic on the blanket... Dinner was of course followed by popsicles or i-cycles as Isabelle calls them.
Ella and Emery both loved this cloth book. I wish we had Isabelle's old books unpacked! I guess I need to add finding them to my to do list...
Super duper exciting news: Ella's starting to practice sitting up! This has been a huge milestone that I've been looking forward to. See...Isabelle cried all the time as a baby. Seriously all the time. There were days where I literally held her for almost every moment of the day. However when she started sitting up, life was miraculously better. So, in my mind life will once again get better when Emery and Ella are sitting up. Next milestone I look forward to? Holding their own bottles.
The girls found the book again and looked at it together for a while:
That is until Emery stole it out right from under her nose...
Let's do it again! :)

Do You See What I See?

Isabelle watches a lot of movies...specifically Disney movies. Does anyone else recognize what scene Isabelle is currently acting out?

Goop...

Ugh...between the horrible diaper rash Isabelle got because she snuck two or three olives, the wasp sting and her latest: PINK EYE (the green goop has infected both eyes, none the less), I feel like I just can't catch a break this week. I mean seriously! Oh yeah...and both of my babies are teething...and still getting over their symptoms from being sick one week ago now. Most of Emery's day is spent crying. Ella handles it a little better, but she is much more unhappy than she normally is. And if we're really keeping count, Isabelle was really sick only two weeks ago now. Seriously! Ugh. The last eight days (or three weeks...or month...but really, the last year...) have been rough. I think I need a nanny...or another pair of arms attached to my body.

Mean Spider

While playing outside last night in her playhouse, Isabelle had a run in with a wasp who had made his home inside. Just as Curt went outside to check on her, Isabelle came out of the house screaming. She actually handled it really well and only cried for a couple of moments. I think she was anxious to tell us that the "mean spider" bit her. It only made the situation that much more sad since she was being all cute about it. Also, she wanted to have Curt go outside with her so she could show him the mean spider, which was still in the playhouse. I guess the wasp stung her where the thumb and index finger meet.

Her poor thumb and part of her hand instantly swelled up and stayed that way for the rest of the night. This morning it looked tons better though...almost normal actually. When we went back to my parent's house today, she started talking about the mean spider again, but my mom told her that Papa had sprayed it so it would go away. So, now she walks around saying, "Mean spider sprayed!" I hope this doesn't ruin her fascination for bugs and spiders!

Something Small...

I wanted to pop in and write about two things that I really love about Isabelle right now. Even as I'm starting this post, several more things are popping into my mind. I'll just stick to my two though since Curt just went to bed and we almost always go to bed together...

1. Isabelle loves to color. In the past week or so she has totally realized you are supposed to actually color in the lines. So, as you flip through her coloring books you can see that she's started to color specific things. She almost always chooses to color the smallest things on the picture. Such as the eyes or ears... I'll have to post pictures.

2. She sings in church. It is so awesome. She full on sings and follows along in the hymnal. Sometimes she even uses her pointer finger to "follow" the words. Other times she conducts the music, while of course holding the book and singing along. It really is so super cute.

Memorial Day Weekend

Originally our plans for the weekend included going out of town to Curt's grandparent's house to help chop down dead trees and then make our way to Sea World, but we ended up not going. Isabelle got a fever and ear infection, Curt wasn't super comfortable using his arm so much and well we just didn't feel good about it. With our luck lately, Curt would have chopped his arm off or something.

Anyway, so since our big weekend plans feel through and for the past six weeks we've been looking forward to this weekend, we decided to do lots around town to make it seem okay. On Friday, Curt only worked a few hours and then went with us and Heather's family to the zoo. Most pictures were taken with Heather and Andrew's camera as they have more free hands than we do anymore. Here are a few we got though:
I think after the zoo, we spent the rest of the day recovering. It was super hot and well, going out with our three girls is A LOT of work. Seriously, it's a miracle I go do anything.

On Saturday we woke up to Isabelle coughing so much that we was puking everywhere. All morning. Not fun... So, we didn't end up doing much that day. That evening we did end up going to dinner with my family. Emery decided that the day too uneventful and grabbed my completely full glass of water down all over me. Seriously soaked my pants. I would say it looked like I had wet my pants, but even if I'd done that, they wouldn't have been as wet as they were. So embarrassing...

Sunday we spent the day with my family, like we do every other Sunday.

Monday we got up and met Heather, Andrew and Levi at the Science Museum. The kids loved it. Well, Isabelle and Levi did...the babies not so much. Emery hates the car seat and Ella doesn't mind it, but wants to be out looking around when we aren't in the car. Our current stroller is just one that holds the car seats. We thought for sure since it was a holiday, the museum would be packed, but it was perfect. Plus it was overcast outside looking like it might rain, so it was tolerable to be out in the dino-dig. Here are pictures of that:

After the museum, we spent the day at Curt's parent's house with almost his entire family. We barbecued and the kids went swimming. I was surprised at how well Isabelle took to swimming. She actually got down in the water and swam around. She loved it.
 It was a great weekend...
