Warning: Super gross picture below not for the faint of heart...
Last Friday, Curt decided that we needed to take advantage of Isabelle spending the night at my in-laws and go on a date. I arranged for my sister to come and baby sit the babies and we planned on going to a later movie so the babies would be asleep the whole time anyways. Emery didn't cooperate with the plan, but that isn't important for the story. Anyways, so since we were going later, Curt had some free time before Heidi got there so he told me about an idea he had. He wanted to build planters out of metal gutters and hang them on our balcony. I agreed...mostly because he was so excited about it and I didn't want to crush his dreams. :) So, off to Home Depot he went. About 30 minutes later he came home and when he opened the door I looked at him and immediately my eyes were drawn to the paper towels covered in blood. Not how I really wanted to start my date night... As it turns out, while going to check out of the store, the gutters started to fall and as a gut instinct he went to catch them and he totally sliced open his arm. He was really embarrassed that he had to tell the cashier at all, but since there was a puddle of blood forming on the floor, he was forced to. I really didn't want to see it, but curiosity got the best of me. I waited until after the 45 minutes it took to get the bleeding under control. It's pretty ugly. You could totally see the fatty tissue.
He really should have gone to get stitches, but he wanted to go to the movie on our date, not the emergency room. Plus we don't have insurance and neither one of us wanted to pay that bill... The whole movie he sat with his arm up trying to help stop the oozing of blood, but by the time we got out, it had bleed through the bandage. Then he finally decided he might need to go get stitches. By that time though, urgent care and the little local E.R. was closed so he ended up not getting them anyways. It wasn't really the scar we were worried about, it was the infection or the potential for tetanus. In the end, it is actually scabbed pretty well and doesn't look the least bit infected. However, he does tend to hit it a lot and has been surprised at how little things you don't think about would stretch the skin.
So...how about that gutters as planters idea? Well, actually it's worked pretty well. I don't know if it was worth the cut, but they look really good and I'm really enjoying them. I'm sure once the flowers start blooming, we'll really enjoy them.

Our New Van
This post is way way over due. On April 23rd, Curt and I bought a new-to-us van. We sold our Mazda 6 to CarMax cause they offered exactly what we were hoping for. The new van definitely took some getting used to...actually still is requiring some getting used to. Our Mazda drove so smooth, took turns so tightly and stopped so much faster. We totally love having the extra room and sometimes find there still isn't enough room sometimes. Isabelle still has a little bit of a hard time being so far back that we can't get stuff that she drops or stuff that she wants. She does love being able to see out the window though. Things I don't even notice, like the cows on the side of the road, make her so excited.

Conversations with Isabelle
After watering our flowers and plants on the balcony this morning, Isabelle saw the watering can and said, "Aladdin! Aladdin!"
They actually look really similar now that she mentioned it...

My New Favorite Picture
My babies love baths now that they can kick and lay on their backs and not scream... After a bath on Friday, Curt put the babies on our bed and they were both so quick to roll on their stomachs. They were both so happy, that we just left them that way and I had to run and get the camera. We were both soooo thrilled when we got such a great picture. It's definitely the best one of the two of them together, to date...

Emery's Toes
Man...I have done almost no blogging this month. I have an excuse: I'd rather be scrapbooking. However, I wanted to pop in and tell the world that Emery found her toes. :) Yep...it's that important people...okay maybe not, but she sure does love them. On Sunday morning, almost as soon as she woke up, she just grabbed them and got all excited about it. She's even rolling a little less just cause she wants to play with them. Which is actually kind of nice since she'll stay happier just a little bit longer on the floor right now. Happy baby(s) = happy momma!
(Please excuse her drool spot...)

Poor Ella (AGAIN...)
Ugh... Does anyone out there have the key to managing two babies at the same time? Please impart your wisdom. While feeding and burping and dealing with constant spitting up and putting Emery down for a nap, Ella was in the living room crying. Now, when I say crying, take it lightly. She doesn't all out cry very often. So imagine more of a complaining squeal mixed with whining on and off... Poor baby is just so mellow that I tend to take care of the much more high maintenance Emery. Well, by the time I made it in to take care of her this is what I found. I am still deciding on whether or not I should move her...
At least she can put herself to sleep though, right? :)
Edited to Add:
I moved her. She woke up for a minute, but then she found her thumb. Is it bad of me to not care if she sucks her thumb? I mean it makes my life right now a little easier...

Four Month Well Child
Yesterday, Curt and I took the babies in to the doctor for their four month check up. Yes, a little late... They are doing sooo well! Especially since the last time the doctor saw them...and by them, I really just mean Emery. Even with her crying during her examine, her doctor commented on how her lungs sound the best she's ever heard them. Yay for that! Ella's a rock star and is just perfectly healthy. She sleeps a lot. As in she took a 6.5 hour nap a week and a half ago and last night she slept 12.5 hours straight though. Yep...I love that! The doctor wasn't worried though...Heather. Emery may not be able to sleep through the night, but we don't feed her as much as Ella in one sitting because she pukes all the time... So she eats smaller doses with shorter breaks. They are both starting to have milestones too. Ella's a little slower, but not too much behind. Here are their stats:
Ella:
15 pounds 0.5 ounces (69 %tile)
24.75 inches tall (55 %tile)
Emery:
13 pounds (24 %tile)
24 inches tall (26 %tile)
They're starting to move up the ladder... Especially Ella. :)

Blowing the Bubbles
A couple of nights ago, Curt spoiled Isabelle with a bubble bath. She more that just loved it. Especially since Curt taught her a new trick...to gather all the bubbles you can in your hands and then blow them to make them go all over the place. She loves it. She tries to blow them, but doesn't have enough power to move the bubbles. She laughs hysterically when Curt does it for her. It's so cute!!
After bath time we read Book of Mormon stories... Look at her cute wrinkled feet...

One of THOSE Days...
Ugh...it's definitely been one rough day at our house. The highlights include Isabelle stopping the DVD player, taking out Tangled, going outside and rubbing the DVD on the patio. Yeah...the DVD player won't even load the disc. I'm completely heartbroken. Another highlight...Isabelle wasn't listening to Curt when he told her not to do something and she did it anyways and ended up falling on Ella's head. She was put in time out and ended up throwing an hour-long tantrum. (We didn't keep her in her room that long as a punishment...after a couple of moments we went in to talk to her and she yelled at us...and she didn't pull herself out of being angry and therefore her tantrum for an hour...we aren't super mean. I promise...) Anyway...after all of that, I was determined not to end the day on a bad note. I had printed out some free printable cupcake pieces from the Internet to do a project with Isabelle. Then we worked on putting cupcakes together. Truthfully, she's a little too young. She just wanted to put all the piece in one huge pile. Once we got her away from one huge pile though, she started to do a little better. Whenever she would finish and put the frosting on top she would always say, "I did it...Yay!" I'm glad for at least a couple of moments of happy times today. Once they were done though, she went right back to her grumpy old self again...
Want to know where I got the free printables? Well...Pinterest of course! Here's a link to the actual Web page though...
Ugh...It really has been one of those days... Look what Curt just found as he was cleaning the kitchen.
Maybe making dinner would be easier if two babies hadn't cried the entire 40 minutes it took me. Once again...I'm heart broken. (They are very expensive...)

Proof That I Don't Have It All Together...
So, my sister accused me of having it all together today. Apparently I don't though since I only half buckled Ella into the swing...
Poor Ella.
