Going to the Temple

During the month of September, my dad's family has been doing a family temple fast. The idea is to have a temple fast for one month where at least one member of the family attends the temple each day, excluding the days it is closed. I signed up for a Saturday, since that is the only day during the week Curt has any time with us this semester. Originally we had planned on going on a date to attend a session since it's been a couple of months, but in the end we actually decided to take the girls with us since we've never taken them over to the Dallas Temple.

As always, the girls were pretty excited to be getting out of the house. They even had fun on the hour and a half trip over (we have to stop for potty breaks now...).

Isabelle has loved the temples for a while now, but was actually against going. She was afraid we were going to make her go into nursery and leave her there. Once we convinced her (three times over) that she was not going to have to go inside to nursery, she was excited to go. (She's having major issues with her new nursery still...)
Knock, knock...

Amazingly we got a decent picture of all three of the girls.
All three of the girls put up a fight about taking pictures...
Ella wanted nothing to do with anything other than the flowers, water and the spot light. It got to the point where we just wanted to give up and go home. Isabelle ended up having to go inside for a potty break. She was quite please to find that the temple has blue potties. :)
While we were there, we talked to Isabelle about Moroni and who he is. She is now very good at identifying him on any temple picture. She even attempts to draw him on her magna-doodle (or maggot noodle as she calls it) like her Daddy does for her.

Dancing Class

In August, Isabelle started going to dance class, or dancing class as she calls it. Her aunt Chandler bought a four class Groupon for a ballet/tap/tumbling class close to my parent's house. Chandler took her to the store the night before and bought her the outfit and she was so excited for class. She went with Chandler to the first class and loved it. She listened to the teacher, Miss Amy very well and did everything she asked. She didn't get distracted like the other girl in her class and just ate up every moment. I am so so happy that she loved it so much. We knew she would...she's been rather obsessed with ballet since the beginning of the year, I think. She found the show Angelina Ballerina from the suggested shows on Netflix and has learned a lot of ballet moves from the show and Aunt Heidi showing her. Thanks Chandler for feeding her obsession! :)

Olympics!

Back when we all had Olympic fever, we had a little family Olympics here in our own home. We had a fun-only Family Home Evening and we did different Olympic events. The girls were very excited about it and actually, even the babies got really into doing each of the events.

We started with the hurdles. While Isabelle did start off with jumping over the "hurdles," she digressed when she saw that the babies were tripping so much and still having fun. So, it turning into a falling and laughing game.
Up next was basketball. All three of the girls did pretty well at this. Of course it helped that the hoop was huge and low and that the balls were small. It went on until Ella and Emery stole the hoop.
We attempted some weight lifting. None of the girls were able to lift our memory foam pillows, so after some really funny attempts from Ella, we switched to their lighter pillows. It worked much better, but Emery and Isabelle didn't have much interest in this game.
Wrestling and Long Jump were next. Sorry for the blurriness.
Then we did the girls' favorite. Gymnastics!
Then we ended with Diving.

We ended with wearing our "Olympic glasses" that I made for the event. I made medals too, but the girls started getting grouchy really fast when we told them we had finished playing games.
Overall, it was a wonderful FHE. Isabelle still talks about it weeks later. We will definitely have to do a winter Olympics FHE in a year and a half! Can't wait!
